About The Position

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Highways and Aviation, Tok District, is looking for a Full-Time Equipment Operator Journey 2 in Tok to help us Keep Alaska Moving! Located near the banks of the Yukon River, Trimms Camp has a history rooted in river transportation and serves as a vital support hub for surrounding rural areas. Requirements

  • Current Driver's License/CDL with endorsements
  • Current Flagger Certification, if applicable
  • A Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required at time of hire.
  • Selected candidates must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures and CANNOT start work in a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) position until Management Services or designee has received confirmation of the proposed appointee passing the required Pre-Employment drug test.
  • According to federal regulations, all violations and refusals will be maintained with the Federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse database.

Responsibilities

  • Perform year-round maintenance of state highways and airports, including operating and servicing heavy and light-duty equipment.
  • Operate various machinery such as graders, dozers (D4 to D7), loaders, semi-tractors with belly dumps, and snow removal equipment for tasks like plowing, hauling, ditching, and surface repairs.
  • Conduct traffic control duties including flagging and support general maintenance activities like vegetation control, sign and fence upkeep, and drainage structure maintenance.
  • Perform additional duties such as welding, steam boiler operation for thawing drainage structures, vehicle maintenance, and shop cleanup.
  • May serve as lead, requiring daily entries into the State MMS computer system.
