The Equipment Operations Manager is responsible for managing the equipment maintenance and repair operations, and golf course maintenance facility maintenance and repair operations for the Golf Course Maintenance department.

Requirements

Knowledge of general business practices as applied to golf course operations practices and procedures.
Thorough working knowledge of turf equipment maintenance and repair operations and procedures as would normally be acquired through a secondary education or trades training plus a minimum of 7-10 years’ experience as an equipment manager or equivalent job.
Strong mechanical skills with thorough knowledge of golf course equipment, hydraulic and electrical systems, gasoline and diesel engine operation, repair and maintenance, inventory management, golf course equipment mower setup, reel maintenance and setup, and familiarity with specialized golf course equipment such as aerifiers, verticutters etc.
Strong leadership and organizational skills, prior supervisory experience required.
General computer skills and experience with equipment maintenance and repair software programs are required.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience with preparing golf course equipment for a professional golf tournament preferred.

Responsibilities

Train, motivate, and supervise staff capable of performing the tasks associated with equipment maintenance.
Assist Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations/Golf Course Superintendent with recommendations concerning personnel matters such as pay rates, performance reviews, corrective actions and terminations.
Schedule and supervise the daily operations of the equipment maintenance crew.
Must have thorough knowledge and understanding of all tasks relevant to the Equipment Maintenance/Technician positions.
Plan, schedule, and monitor daily operations, including responsibility for coordinating and assigning work, schedules leaves, and ensures adequate staffing for meeting departmental goals.
Develop, implement and maintain a preventative maintenance program for each piece of equipment used in the golf course maintenance operations.
Oversees maintenance facility repairs and maintenance and identifies and schedules facility maintenance and makes budget recommendations.
Work closely with the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations/Golf Course Superintendent developing an annual operating budget for equipment maintenance and facility maintenance.
Assists in the evaluation, selection, pricing, and purchasing of new equipment and makes appropriate recommendations.
Establishes equipment and facility maintenance protocols, methodologies, and BMPs.
Train and instruct Equipment Manager, Equipment Technicians, and Preventative Maintenance Technicians on proper procedures to follow while performing the daily assigned tasks required.
Perform all routine preventative maintenance and curative maintenance which is required to keep the equipment in good condition.
Establish and maintain proper parts inventory levels using network approved platform.
Manage equipment fleet preventative maintenance and repair, schedules, parts inventory, and maintenance repair history for each piece of equipment through the use of departmental approved software.
Procure competitive bids for all replacement parts and/or service work performed outside of the maintenance operations as detailed in the Golf Course Maintenance Operations Manual.
Maintain logs for each piece of equipment regarding daily usage and fuel consumption.
Provide assistance in training the golf course maintenance staff in the safe and proper use of equipment.
Ensure equipment maintenance shop and all appropriate areas are always clean, organized, and provides a safe working environment for departmental staff on a daily basis.
Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and is in safe working condition at all times.
Required to wear personal protective clothing and/or use protective equipment to comply with established safety operating standards including making sure shop staff are trained and in compliance.
Special projects or other duties as assigned.
