About The Position

As an Equipment Mechanic , you will ensure completion of scheduled preventative maintenance, perform safety inspections, diagnose, and repair small engine equipment, including two/four cycle gasoline, diesel-powered, battery-powered, and alternative-powered equipment. You will also perform skilled labor in the maintenance and repair of parks, turf areas, landscapes, open spaces, ball fields, rights-of-way, and trails to keep these areas safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing. This position participates in snow and ice control activities, operates heavy construction equipment, and may direct a crew of seasonal or temporary workers.

Requirements

  • Principles and practices of small engine repair and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of parks maintenance tools and turf management techniques.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate construction equipment and modern office software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of small engine and/or equipment repair experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Class “B” CDL within 180 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialized training in equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Certifications in Honda, Kohler/Rehlko, Kubota, and Toro engines.
  • Experience with alternative power equipment and landscape maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair small engine and battery-powered equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and major/minor repairs, including engine rebuilds and welding.
  • Conduct field service calls and coordinate equipment transport for repairs.
  • Maintain parts inventory and assist with equipment replacement planning and budgeting.
  • Operate heavy construction equipment and participate in snow removal operations.
  • Assist with turf and landscape maintenance, including mowing, fertilizing, aerating, and spraying herbicides.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate with internal teams and vendors.
