This is skilled work in the mechanical repair, maintenance and reconditioning of assigned gasoline and/or diesel powered automotive, heavy truck, construction and/or maintenance equipment. Examples of work include the inspection, diagnosis, and installation of automotive, mechanical, hydraulic, air conditioning and electrical systems; maintenance of specialized police and fire vehicular apparatus; repair and replacement of fuel lines, carburation, and diesel injection components; and servicing and reconditioning of rear axles, brakes, rims, tires, multi-speed transmissions, and hydraulics. At the Equipment Mechanic II level, work is also highly skilled and at the journeyman level with intermittent responsibility for leading a small crew of workers in maintenance and repair. This position's primary work assignment will be in the Sanitation Shop working on refuse equipment. This position is Emergency critical (meaning the position is mandatory working before, during, and after an emergency and/or disaster). This position will provide Eco pay of $3.00 per sweat hour. The assignment will be Monday - Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
