This specific role, Equipment Engineering Design Lead, is within the Supply Chain Engineering/Mechanical Engineering function. The position is part of the Cardiovascular team, which focuses on developing next-generation treatments at the intersection of biology and technology, specifically for heart recovery, electrophysiology, and stroke, aiming to elevate standards of care for patients with stroke, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation (AFib).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or equivalent
  • Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in equipment design or tooling
  • Proficient in the use of CAD software (SolidWorks) to design & draft mechanical assemblies
  • Good communication skills combined with an analytical minded, critical thinking, imaginative and creative approach to problem solving
  • Proven ability to lead projects and mentor technical teams
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in the use of SAP
  • Knowledge of PDM system and GD&T Best Practices
  • Knowledge of Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Ability to gain cooperation of others and lead team members

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in medical device manufacturing environment is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Generation of equipment designs which meet manufacturing, safety, and performance requirements, including new tooling, fixtures, and modification/upgrades for new and existing products.
  • Providing technical leadership on equipment related product and process issues.
  • Analyze designs using solid models and drawings with Computer Aided Design (“CAD”) using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (“GD&T”), and stack-up analyses.
  • Co-ordinate activities for team members.
  • Take a lead role in the design of the equipment from concept to deployment.
  • Ensure documentation/drawing standards for equipment meet company SOP requirements.
  • Work closely with both internal and external specialists to complete equipment related projects as part of the design team.
  • Actively participate in team and plant continuous improvement through participation in Value Improvement Projects and Lean Production Process Projects etc.
  • Critically review engineering designs and ensure adherence to company design and development guidelines and SOPs.
  • Use experience to make judgments and propose different solutions outside of set parameters.
  • Use prior experience and on-the-job training to solve more challenging tasks.
  • Access technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems.
