About The Position

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Public Health and Safety Division in Helena. The Epidemiologist 2 is responsible for providing epidemiology support to the Immunization Section. Responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to\: Conduct descriptive and predictive analyses on vaccination coverage using vaccine administration and survey data; Conduct regular evaluation of the surveillance systems available to measure population-level vaccination coverage; Design, coordinate, and manage enhanced vaccination surveillance activities during emerging vaccine preventable disease events (e.g., pandemic influenza, licensure of the a new vaccine product); Develop and conduct trainings for local and tribal health jurisdictions and vaccine providers; Design and conduct program evaluations. Requirements

  • Knowledge of epidemiology principles and practices
  • Ability to manipulate and analyze large, complex data sets
  • Skill in programming in Statistical Analysis System (SAS) or R statistical software
  • Master’s degree in epidemiology, statistics, public health, or a closely related degree
  • Three years of job-related experience in epidemiology

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in managing large, complex data sets preferred
  • Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis
