About The Position

The Epic User Security Analyst is responsible for managing user access and security within the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system. This role ensures that users have appropriate access based on their job roles, maintains compliance with HIPAA and hospital policies, and supports audits and reporting related to Epic security. The analyst collaborates with clinical, administrative, and technical teams to ensure secure and efficient use of Epic applications across the hospital. Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in Information Technology.
  • Experience with computer systems, including web based applications and Microsoft Office applications which will include Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Epic User Security certification (or must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare compliance standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Health Informatics, or related field.
  • Experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Strong understanding of Epic security architecture and user roles.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and deactivate Epic user accounts and templates.
  • Assign appropriate roles, security classes, and templates based on role based access.
  • Maintain provider records and link credentials to Epic workflows.
  • Ensure Epic security settings comply with HIPAA, hospital policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in internal and external audits; provide documentation and reports as needed.
  • Monitor and respond to security incidents or access anomalies.
  • With support from senior team members, work closely with HR, clinical departments, and IT to onboard new staff and manage role changes.
  • Works effectively as part of a team in resolving incidents escalated through the Help Desk or from other application teams in a timely manner.
  • Provide after-hours support for urgent access issues or system updates based on an on-call schedule.
  • Assist with Epic upgrades and testing related to user security.
  • Participate in Epic User Security Workgroup
  • Represent User Security team on Department and/or Organization-wide projects or initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of user access and security configurations.
  • Generate reports for leadership and compliance teams.
  • Under supervision of the Epic Technical Manager, document procedures and contribute to policy development.
  • Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department and/or customer.
  • Under supervision of the Epic Technical Manager, coordinate change control meetings.
  • Perform auditing of changes made in the Epic Production environment.
