About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Epic Lab Analyst to support and maintain laboratory-related workflows within Epic Ambulatory and/or Epic Orders. This role focuses specifically on lab build, supporting ordering, result routing, workflows, and integrations as they relate to ambulatory and enterprise ordering processes. Candidates must be Epic Ambulatory or Epic Orders certified and have hands-on experience supporting lab-related Epic build. Prior experience working with Cerner is a nice to have.

Requirements

  • Epic Certification in Ambulatory and/or Orders (active and current).
  • 3+ years of Epic analyst experience, with direct involvement in lab-related build.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting: Lab ordering workflows Lab result review and routing Orders and clinical workflows tied to ambulatory settings
  • Experience working on Epic implementations, optimizations, or major enhancements.
  • Strong experience with testing methodologies, including UAT and integrated testing.
  • Ability to analyze complex workflows and recommend effective system solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with clinical and technical teams.
  • Healthcare IT experience within a hospital system, health system, or large ambulatory organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with Cerner, particularly lab-related workflows.
  • Experience supporting Epic Orders Transmittal or Clinical Decision Support related to labs.
  • Experience with downstream or related Epic modules (e.g., Clinical Documentation, Interfaces, Reporting).
  • Experience supporting multi-site or enterprise ambulatory environments.
  • Participation in go‑live events or large-scale system conversions.
  • Additional Epic certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Epic subject matter expert for lab-related workflows within Epic Ambulatory and/or Epic Orders.
  • Design, build, configure, and maintain Epic functionality related to: Lab orders and order sets Result routing and display Order transmittal and workflow rules Preference lists and clinical workflows
  • Collaborate closely with clinical, lab, ambulatory, and operational stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into Epic build solutions.
  • Support lab integrations and workflows between Epic and external or internal laboratory systems (non‑Beaker).
  • Participate in Epic implementations, optimizations, upgrades, and enhancements, including workflow design and validation.
  • Develop and execute unit testing, integrated testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) for lab-related workflows.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve build issues, defects, and workflow gaps related to lab ordering and results.
  • Support go‑live and post‑go‑live stabilization, providing issue triage and support.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for lab workflows, build configurations, and system changes.
  • Ensure Epic build adheres to organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and Epic best practices.
  • Work cross-functionally with other Epic teams, including Orders, Ambulatory, Interfaces, and Reporting.
