About The Position

Under limited supervision, the ECSA I is responsible for configuring and managing systems that provide the supporting infrastructure of the EPIC electronic health record application. The ECSA I is primarily responsible for executing build and workflow integration client systems tasks, in support of the EPIC applications group. The ECSA I also assist the ECSA II with the administration and maintenance of the client systems server environment. May also be asked to assist with the build of various client systems servers.

Requirements

  • Associate degree preferred in related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years' progressive experience, in design and deployment of a clinical information system preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows server/desktop OS platforms.
  • Hardware and operating system management for database servers
  • Epic client system management
  • Storage area and network management
  • Strong communication skills
  • Use basic system operating
  • Provision storage resources to the various servers
  • Monitor SAN status, logs, and performance
  • Modify layouts appropriately as access patterns and loads warrant
  • Enable and modify snapshot activity for backup
  • Schedule firmware and software updates and fixes as appropriate
  • Carefully monitor backup logs for completeness and efficiency
  • EPIC certification within 6 months; Windows Server OS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize tasks, resolve conflicts, maintain issues lists.
  • Probe for information about the underlying needs of the organization and user community, which directly influences how the system will be built.
  • Maintain regular communication with EPIC representatives.
  • Work with EPIC representative(s) and the organization's business community and end-users to ensure the system meets the organization's business needs.
  • Performs in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with EPIC software.
  • Investigate end-users' preference while collaborating on build decisions.
  • Analyze business operations as they relate to build decisions.
  • Prioritize and implement requested changes to the system. Assists with the monthly maintenance program.
  • Analyze new functionality in releases to determine how it should be used.
  • Review software, coordinate software updates and changes as well as review and test each new release.
  • Collect information regarding potential system enhancement needs and prepare details of specifications as needed.
  • Analyze data conversion needs.
  • Ensure that data coming across an interface into an EPIC application meets the business need.
  • Document team procedures for implementing system changes and other tasks.
  • Set standards for naming and numbering conventions and security classifications using single EPIC Style Guide for Master File Naming and Numbering Conventions.
  • Adhere to change control processes and procedures for the system.
  • Participate in training and work with end-users.
  • Troubleshoot problems and questions from end-users.
