Epic Certified Training/Informatics Analyst is responsible for training and support of Valley Health users on the Epic product and includes but is not limited to training environment maintenance (trainers only), training material development/maintenance, Epic user proficiency, workflow documentation and go live support. The Epic Certified Training/Informatics Analyst will work with all applications and support all users. As part of the Epic Project Team, this individual will provide expert and creative solutions to user requirements and problems. Takes the initiative to research, resolve and respond to inquiries during the deployment and ongoing maintenance/support phases of the program. This position requires knowledge of processes and workflows common in inpatient, ambulatory, and business office settings, in addition to advanced computer skills. This position requires the ability to independently as well as collaboratively interact with and make recommendations to clients and demonstrate critical thinking and follow through when developing solutions to identified issues. Epic Certified Training/Informatics Analysts are also expected to mentor and aid in orientation for new employees. Serves as an advocate for VHS needs in all efforts related to the Inova/VHS Alliance. On Call required. Scope/growth: Conducts or participates in system technical and application reviews to determine feasibility, cost and evaluate usefulness. Leads in conducting system investigation to determine general feasibility, cost and alternative system solutions as evidenced by interviewing users to define requirements and objectives of automation. Identify best fit for processes and systems through analysis of software packages, making appropriate recommendations for best fit, as evidenced by user approval documentation, in accordance with Epic documentation standards. Coordinates vendor demos, site visits and reference calls for new products and functionality. Mentoring: Assists in recruitment, development and training of existing and new employees. Shares knowledge with teammates regarding their area of expertise. Establishes an environment that creates incentives for, and eliminates barriers to, a team environment. For example, articulates common goals, communicates how individual roles contribute to team success, provides both clear direction and sufficient resources while removing or reducing obstacles to team success. System maintenance: Assists in the maintenance, implementation, and support of enterprise applications to ensure optimum performance. Breaks down problems and issues into sub-components and then assesses the costs, benefits and risks of various options prior to selecting a particular approach. Develops/modifies standards for on-call, downtime, and request processing. Responds to and supports system issues/requests as evidenced by following approved SLA goals and governance standards. Performs in-depth analysis of department workflows with end users and application teams to report details and other technical issues associated with Epic software as they relate to system design, maintenance, and build decisions. Maintains curriculum and learning aides to ensure alignment with approved workflows. Delivers clear and concise education. Understand and translate the business functionality into Epic system configuration and workflow validations. Builds, tests, and debugs Epic application(s) training environment (trainers only) to ensure the system meets end user requirements. Listens to business needs expressed by clients and documents system capabilities and constraints Project oversight/advocacy - complex: Leads training/support meetings, reviews, and design sessions as assigned. Writes scope statements, defining size and planning parameters of complex projects as assigned. Develops the specific requirements and developing the content for training and education on the Epic system, for assigned modules and specialty areas. Collaborates with testing team and application team to validate workflows and obtain user acceptance sign off. Coordinates to assure projects/requests are completed within time tables and objectives met. Adheres to project management best practices as evidenced by project planning, problem resolution, change control, and quality assurance, in accordance with established standards. Evaluates impact present and/or proposed systems have/will have on the organization as evidence by detailed cost/benefit and impact analysis. Communication: Communicates status to teammates, leadership, and internal/external customers. Works with application teams and the user community to ensure the applications meet the organization's needs. Communicates frequently and effectively to end users regarding new features/functionality as well as efficiencies included but not limited to updates, new version release, and enhancement/optimization requests. Follows through on issues for resolution, escalates and communicates status to leadership routinely and timely in accordance with established standards. Communicates status and problems, as evidenced by status reports in accordance with established standards.
