About The Position

At Memorial Hermann, the Epic Application Analyst is responsible for advancing the functionality and operational efficiency of Information Systems utilizing their expertise in Epic Applications. This entails basic to intermediate analysis, design, configuration and implementation. This position is responsible for ensuring integration of technology into effective workflow and process design as well as ensuring operational efficiency of assigned Epic applications and integrated technology. The analyst provides ongoing analysis, consultation, problem-solving, collaboration and application support to users, and contributes to related project work and system training. The Epic Application Analyst typically reports to an ISD manager or above. This role focuses on supporting and optimizing Epic applications to enhance clinical workflows and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include analyzing user needs, configuring and maintaining system functionality, managing support tickets, and participating in system upgrades, testing, and implementations. The analyst partners closely with clinical and operational teams, including nursing, mother-baby, and rehab, to troubleshoot issues, improve documentation processes, and ensure effective system use. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment, and a commitment to providing excellent customer support, including participation in a rotating on-call schedule.

Requirements

  • Epic Clinical Documentation certification required
  • Epic Certification required
  • Two (2) years of equivalent experience in related areas such as healthcare, education, or technology required
  • Epic build, testing, and optimization experience
  • Strong ticket queue and upgrade support skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent communication and customer support skills
  • Strong time management in high-volume environments
  • Ability to support rotating 24/7 on-call coverage
  • Industry training and increasingly responsible experience with knowledge and skills in a large, complex corporate Information System
  • Basic working knowledge of Epic or other Electronic Health Record (EHR) application support, development tools and methodologies
  • Good analytical skills and technical aptitude
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Good communication, collaboration and customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Rehab and Stork certifications preferred
  • Associates degree preferred
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in a large, corporate systems development and implementation activities in a wide variety of Healthcare Management Information Systems (MIS) or similar experience in system analysis, design, building, testing and implementation preferred
  • Previous Epic or other Health Information Systems experience desired

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic to intermediate analysis, design, configuration, and implementation of Epic applications.

  • Provide ongoing analysis, consultation, problem-solving, collaboration, and application support to users.

  • Support and optimize Epic applications to enhance clinical workflows and operational efficiency.
  • Analyze user needs, configure and maintain system functionality.
  • Manage support tickets and participate in system upgrades, testing, and implementations.
  • Partner closely with clinical and operational teams, including nursing, mother-baby, and rehab, to troubleshoot issues, improve documentation processes, and ensure effective system use.
  • Translate customer requests into Epic and other software application solution specifications.
  • Use PC system development tools to develop and deploy queries, simple applications, moderately complex reports and other business solutions in Epic and related systems.
  • Maintain detailed technical knowledge of assigned applications.
  • Assist customers with optimizing their use of Epic applications.
  • Participate in after-hours application support via rotating on-call schedule.
  • With moderate supervision, set priorities, understand Epic and other integrated applications, answer technical questions and perform all assigned tasks.
  • Identify issues and concerns and communicate them to Team Lead and/or Manager as appropriate.
  • Develop options and recommendations for problem-solving.
  • Provide training, support, and problem resolution to customers.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Ensure safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
