About The Position

The Epic Application Analyst at Memorial Hermann is responsible for advancing the functionality and operational efficiency of Information Systems through expertise in Epic Applications. This role involves basic to intermediate analysis, design, configuration, and implementation, ensuring technology integration into effective workflow and process design, and maintaining operational efficiency of assigned Epic applications and integrated technology. The analyst provides ongoing analysis, consultation, problem-solving, collaboration, and application support to users, and contributes to project work and system training. Specifically, the Epic Application Analyst – Beaker is a junior-level role focused on supporting laboratory operations by building, maintaining, and optimizing Epic Beaker and related systems. This position requires partnering with clinical and technical teams to manage lab workflows, troubleshoot issues, and ensure accurate delivery of lab results across multiple applications in a complex healthcare environment. The role typically reports to an ISD manager or above.

Requirements

  • Epic BEAKER Certification is required
  • Two (2) years of equivalent experience in related areas such as healthcare, education, or technology required
  • Basic working knowledge of Epic or other Electronic Health Record (EHR) application support, development tools and methodologies
  • Good analytical skills and technical aptitude
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Good communication, collaboration and customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in a large, corporate systems development and implementation activities in a wide variety of Healthcare Management Information Systems (MIS) or similar experience in system analysis, design, building, testing and implementation preferred
  • Industry training and increasingly responsible experience with knowledge and skills in a large, complex corporate Information System
  • Previous Epic or other Health Information Systems experience desired
  • Experience supporting laboratory operations and workflows
  • Familiarity with Epic Beaker or other EHR systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot integrated and third-party systems
  • Effective communication with clinical and technical teams
  • Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Translates customer requests into Epic and other software application solution specifications
  • Uses PC system development tools to develop and deploy queries, simple applications, moderately complex reports and other business solutions in Epic and related systems
  • Maintains detailed technical knowledge of assigned applications
  • Assists customers with optimizing their use of Epic applications
  • Participates in after-hours application support via rotating on call schedule
  • With moderate supervision, sets priorities, understands Epic and other integrated applications, answers technical questions and performance all assigned task
  • Identifies issues and concerns and communicates them to Team Lead and/or Manager as appropriate
  • Develops options and recommendations
  • Provides training, support, and problem resolution to customers
  • Thinks, plans, leads and acts appropriately in tactical settings
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff
