The Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC) is an official university-level research center at Texas State University. The TxSSC is tasked in Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code and the Governor’s Homeland Security Strategic Plan with key school safety initiatives and mandates. The TxSSC serves as the clearinghouse for the dissemination of safety and security information through research, training, and technical assistance for K-12 schools and junior colleges throughout the state of Texas. As a result, Texas has become a national leader in school safety practices and is relied upon for assistance and guidance from jurisdictions throughout the nation. The TxSSC welcomes applicants for the position of Emergency Operations Plan Program Manager . Applicants should have extensive experience within an organization that serves at the city, county, or state government level. This is a supervisory position within the School Safety Readiness Division. The Texas School Safety Readiness division is responsible for assisting in the oversight of a statewide system for the review, verification, and follow-up of multi-hazard emergency operations plans and safety and security audits for all K-12 districts, charter school districts, and community colleges in Texas to ensure compliance with state school safety legislation. This division also assists with ongoing research and development of best practices related to school emergency operation plans. Additionally, this division is responsible for assisting in the oversight of a statewide system of review and verification for the School Safety and Security Registry of Texas. The School Safety Readiness division also works collaboratively across divisions with the Training and Education, Information Technology, Research and Evaluation, and Youth and Community Initiatives divisions to improve the overall safety and security in our educational environments across Texas.
