EOP Student Assistants help create impactful relationships and foster a supportive environment for our EOP student population at Cal Poly Maritime Academy. The main objective of the Student Assistant role is to provide support to professional EOP staff with the intent to shape a community-oriented atmosphere and instill a sense of belonging in our students. Responsibilities include participating fully in EOP Summer Bridge, planning and facilitating workshops and events within the academic year, providing individual and group advising, making referrals to campus resources as appropriate, collaborating with EOP professional staff – and relevant campus partners - to support student needs, and abiding by campus policies and standards. Student Assistants are also expected to attend a training orientation in late March - mid April on-campus and fully participate in EOP Summer Bridge in late-August. Student Assistants will be able to move in early and live on-campus in the residence hall for the purpose of participating in Summer Bridge, unless excused by the EOP Coordinator. Meals will also be provided to Student Assistants during the duration of the program. Priority is given to EOP students in good academic standing.
