About The Position

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. Provides tactical and technical support to Engineering/Production/Manufacturing by performing activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electro/mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment. Applications may include electrical circuits, photonics and logic systems. Works from schematics, diagrams, electronic, written , and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions. Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Assists in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment. Uses manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus , gauges, relief valves, and hand loaders. Must be comfortable with assembling tooling onto space-flight hardware through the use of hand tools, torque wrenches, and cranes. As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for environmental test processes for a wide range of liquid rocket engine components at our new, state of the art production facility in Huntsville, AL. The person in this position will assist with installation, operation, and maintenance of test equipment; assisting with process documentation and controls; perform testing and certification of the test equipment. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with at least 2 years of experience in related tasks.
  • Knowledge/experience in manufacturing and test processes and procedures.
  • Strong ability to comprehend technical work instructions.
  • Experience with drawings, shop orders, and detailed work instructions.
  • Experience with test electronic, hydrostatic and pneumatic test equipment.
  • Experience with various types of gages, instruments and measuring devices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with software systems, databases and Microsoft Office Suite
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Physically able to climb ladders and stairs and lift and carry 50 lbs. for limited durations
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, supporting all shifts/OT, as necessary, to support business nee ds.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-yr Associates degree in a relevant field
  • Overhead crane and rigging experience
  • Cleaning, Passivation and Verification
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems, Non-conformance systems, Ticketed request systems and order scheduling systems
  • Experience using and maintaining calibrated equipment

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate test equipment which may include but not be limited to vibration tables, vacuum chambers, pressure devices, water delivery systems, flow meters, transducers and other test equipment.
  • Performs functions that include test troubleshooting, basic equipment maintenance, coordination with test engineers, and engagement with management on daily test activities.
  • Clean machines, equipment, and work areas according to site standard practices and management guidance.
  • Tool-up hardware and production assets in support of Proof & Flow Testing
  • Support Test Engineering in conducting Cryo Testing
