This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a unique and highly-skilled team, you’ll perform environmental testing of flight hardware. In this hands-on position you’ll work directly with a small team operating and maintaining the environmental test equipment while conducting development, qualification and acceptance testing of flight hardware. Additional responsibilities include: Conduct hands-on shock, vibration, thermal, humidity and vacuum testing on flight hardware in accordance with MIL-STD-810, SMC-S-016 and MIL-STD-1540 Operate test consoles and work with a team of engineers & technicians to execute component level testing Ensure all operations are performed safely, on time and in a professional manner Work with test, flight and safety critical hardware, tools and shop equipment Setup and safely operate high energy systems (e.g. high pressure gases, cryogenics and electrical) Operate and maintain environmental test equipment including data acquisition systems, environmental chambers, vibration systems and instrumentation Conduct and/or oversee several test projects simultaneously while supporting operation schedules Configure test setups, fixtures and instrumentation per test plans and standards Review test documentation for test readiness Maintain cleanliness of test equipment and test lab Identify, communicate, and mitigate cost, schedule and technical risks Participate in Process/Job Hazard Assessments/Test Readiness Reviews We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Requirements

  • B.S. degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Background and direct hands-on experience with shock and vibration testing.
  • 2+ years of experience troubleshooting and diagnosing off-nominal vibration scenarios.
  • Hands-on experience in test and production facilities, factories, or laboratories.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering data, drawings, standards, and technical requirements.
  • Strong safety mindset and experience, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical operations.
  • Willing to work overtime or weekend shifts as needed.
  • Occasional 2nd shift coverage will be required.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in test stand operations and vibration table equipment.
  • Experience in a production environment with test systems.
  • Experience with aerospace structural, mechanical, or propulsion systems assembly and testing.
  • Proficiency with test instrumentation: pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, flow meters, load cells, relays, solenoid valves, etc.
  • Experience with high-energy systems (6k psi pressure, high voltage, cryogenics).
  • Experience in NI Labview or high level languages such as Python/C++
  • Proficiency with CAD, Matlab, and Ansys.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in Process/Job Hazard Assessments/Test Readiness Reviews
