About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Environmental Coordinator, the Environmental Technician will support environmental monitoring and compliance efforts while working both in office settings and onsite in the field. This role involves regular exposure to diverse conditions such as loud noise, dust, and inclement weather.

Requirements

  • Qualifications to include any combination of education and experience that provide the required skill and knowledge for the successful performance of the position.
  • Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in environmental Sciences or applied sciences preferred
  • Approximately 1‐3 years of environmental field experience in an industrial setting preferred
  • Possess strong work ethic and problem‐solving skills
  • Ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful; mature; flexible
  • Ability to work independently and to accept responsibility
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and operate a 4WD pickup truck to access remote sample locations during all seasons
  • Able to hike several miles over uneven ground
  • Ability and availability to work weekends and some holidays as required
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a safe team-oriented environment including the ability to interact with the public sector
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and organize work schedule, and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong written, oral communication and presentation skills and a general knowledge of State and Federal environmental regulations
  • Computer operations: Microsoft Office working knowledge, spreadsheets development, database knowledge and ability to utilize other software systems

Responsibilities

  • Conducts field environmental monitoring activities related to air, water, wildlife, soils, vegetation, meteorology, and archaeology
  • Collect environmental samples and data for monitoring and for chemical and physical analyses
  • Maintain and calibrate sampling and monitoring equipment to include routine maintenance and minor repairs
  • Collects, enters, review and analyze environmental data into tracking systems
  • Perform environmental inspections and identify areas that may be or are out of compliance with permits/regulations
  • Assist with preparation of routine submittals to regulatory agencies to document system performance and compliance with permit requirements
  • Maintains knowledge of sampling procedures and protocols in accordance with recognized industry standards
  • Assists and conducts environmental based training to mine site employees as needed
  • Performs administrative duties as directed by the immediate supervisor
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
