About The Position

SCS Engineers is looking for an Environmental Technician for our Muskego, WI office. You will assist project managers in various project types, including solid waste, materials testing, and environmental management. This individual will be able to employ frequently standard operating procedures, and SCS practices, manage their responsibilities, and achieve consistent results with direct supervision from management and provided training. Conduct assignments in an office and/or perform field work. This individual will be in the field at least 80% of the time with local or overnight travel. How you can make an impact Perform sampling and/or monitoring, which can include the following: soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, air, geophysical, landfill gas, and leachate. Prepare samples with daily field logs regarding data collected, field observations, actions taken, and recommended actions to be taken on the next visit. Report field conditions and test results to project managers and sometimes directly to the client. Assist project managers with data reduction, analysis, and documentation. Operate basic field instruments and equipment, including sampling and monitoring equipment. Perform basic maintenance on various types of electronic, mechanical, and air monitoring equipment. Maintain field test equipment, calibrate instruments, collect data, and health & safety plans, and other work documents. Prepare charts, maps, and cross-sections. Perform maintenance, repairs, and construction of underground storage tank projects. Assist project managers with office duties, including construction materials testing, laboratory data management, and administrative tasks. Prepare technical memos and reports. Manage technical equipment for field and company. Provide technical support for staff as necessary. Manage test result documentation and data tracking. Ability to read maps and construction-related drawings. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to take direction and communicate clearly. Ability to work independently and problem-solve.

Requirements

  • Ability to complete basic math and lift/carry up to 50 pounds required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing required.
  • Completion (or willingness to complete) a 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Experience with mechanical systems and/or construction preferred.
