This temporary position is located at 100 Kitty Hawk Lane, Elizabeth City - Pasquotank County, with the Department of Environmental Quality. The Environmental Technician I serves as technical assistant to the program biologist in the NCDEQ Washington Regional Office. The Environmental Technician I conducts creel census interviews in the Albemarle Sound Management Area (ASMA) in Elizabeth City and its surrounding areas.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Determining fishing location, fishing time, catch, species identification, size, and other biological parameters.
  • The technician will organize, code, and compile data for computer storage and analysis.
