This temporary position is with NC DNCR – Museum of History, located at 501 South Water Street, Elizabeth City NC, Pasquotank County. Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $17.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). The Dept of Natural and Cultural Resources – Museum of History is seeking a part-time Admin / Museum Tech I to assist with maintaining, updating and refining the collections database at the Museum of the Albemarle with care and precision.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of English composition and scientific writing techniques.
  • Ability to judge the risk and effectively minimize danger to artwork, artifacts, and specimens.
  • Ability to read exhibits plans and design effective lighting systems.
  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience as related to knowledge, skills, and abilities in area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Record location of artifacts and track artifact status
  • Maintain up-to-date paperwork of recent acquisitions, temporary receipts, and loan documents
  • Number artifacts with their accession numbers
  • Scan archival documents
  • Draft condition reports of artifacts
  • Artifact stabilization, and placing textiles on archival mannequins
  • Research topics for exhibits and acquisitions
  • Other duties as assigned
