Under close supervision and oversight, the Environmental Technician Associate is responsible for the performance of environmental inspections, data management, and reporting requirements to comply with environmental compliance programs, permit requirements, and corporate environmental policies, standards, procedures and strategic environmental goals within their assigned region, plant and project scope. Responsibilities include performance of inspections, collection of data, and the development of reports to demonstrate compliance with applicable requirements at multiple AEP assets within the assigned region within regulatory time frames. The Environmental Technician is also responsible for informing appropriate AEP staff of issues identified during inspections that must be addressed through internal business processes. NOTE: This is a field position reporting to Columbus, OH Or Zanesville OH location. One may have to work 4 days in the field and 1dayfrom home office or 5 half days in field and 5 half days at home office based on the business need. The Environmental Technician Associate should have at least an awareness of the inspection requirements related to some the following environmental programs: • Coal Combustion Residual Surface Impoundments and Landfills, • Aboveground and underground storage tanks, • Transportation of hazardous materials, • Solid and hazardous waste management, • Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures, • Wastewater, storm water, groundwater, and drinking water sampling, reporting and control, • Oil and chemical spill response and management, • Air emissions monitoring, control and reporting, • Asbestos and PCB management, • Pollution prevention, • Environmental site assessments, and • Emergency planning, and community right-to-know.
