About The Position

Barge Design Solutions is seeking an Environmental Team Lead responsible for technical project planning and coordination, organization, technical design, and preparation of proposals, work plans, reports, and initial review of deliverables. Technical lead on multiple projects of moderate size or challenging portions of a major project. Manages a small group of entry-level and staff-level personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited program (Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering).
  • Minimum of 8 or more years of environmental consulting experience.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-Hr certification, plus current 8-hour update.
  • Registered PG or PE.
  • Applies thorough knowledge and proficiency acquired through progressive experience to resolve challenging issues. Can be considered a Subject Matter Specialist in a discipline or market practice area.
  • Good technical writer and reviewer.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, ArcGIS Pro, and Bluebeam
  • Keeps informed regarding new methods and developments affecting the organization and recommends new practices or changes in emphasis.
  • Effectively collaborate with leadership team and staff to meet defined objectives.
  • Ability to effectively manage and motivate employees.
  • Manages a small group of employees for project coordination, utilization, training and mentoring goals.
  • This role will have talent management responsibilities for a group of individuals including, but not limited to selection, development, and coaching for mentoring and improvement.
  • May recommend separations or other actions.
  • This role mentors and guides other professionals.
  • Helps ensure timeliness & quality of technical team's work on projects and budget adherence.
  • Ensures adequate coordination to meet established utilization rate goals.

  • Walk, sit, and stand. Occasionally reach with hands, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Occasionally climb 25-30 feet. Occasionally lift up to 40 lbs. Visual acuity sufficient to read alpha/ numeric symbols for calculations.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and respond effectively to project issues that arise.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical guidance on project scope, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
  • Supports Project Managers and Senior Environmental Manager in providing project coordination for various projects.
  • Conducts technical planning representing analysis, preparing reports, and other various tasks.
  • Trains entry-level and staff-level personnel in a variety of field activities, including groundwater, surface water, soil, sediment, and vapor intrusion investigations, and asbestos and lead surveys.
  • Reviews and may prepare complete project documents for conformity with Barge quality assurance/quality control practices.
  • Influences stakeholders and manages stakeholder relationships within and outside Barge.
  • Directs on-site visits to monitor progress of project.
  • Directs CADD technicians and/or GIS technicians in preparation of project figures.
  • Supervises a small group of staff scientists, geologists-in-training, and engineering associates.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
