The Environmental Service Assistant position at Advocate Health, within the AMC Sheboygan County - Environmental Services department, is a full-time, benefits-eligible role. The shift is from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM, including every other weekend and rotating holidays. This role is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across various areas of the facility, such as patient care areas, surgical areas, restrooms, conference rooms, lobbies, offices, elevators, and stairwells. Key duties include cleaning all environmental surfaces, assisting with emergency spills, mopping floors, replacing coverings, managing waste (including hazardous and medical waste), handling and distributing linens, preparing dismissal units, stocking supplies, and reporting mechanical failures or unsafe conditions. The position requires the ability to follow instructions, work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain excellent customer service. Physical demands are significant, involving lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, crawling, and prolonged standing/walking. The incumbent will be exposed to strong germicidal solutions, cleaning chemicals, temperature changes, soiled linen, and infectious waste, necessitating familiarity with infection control guidelines and the use of protective clothing.
