The Environmental Specialist II is responsible for providing technical support to the Division Environmental Officer, ensuring the compliance of Division maintenance and construction projects with environmental laws and regulations, under the supervision of the Division Environmental Officer. The position is also responsible for thorough investigation, identification, evaluation and documentation of natural and cultural resources, wetland, stream and protected species investigations, in support of environmental compliance and stewardship for all Division projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of State and Federal environmental laws, regulations, and program procedures.; including scientific principles, environmental processes, and standard methods used in data collection and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform environmental tests, inspections, and analyses using established methods, including evaluating data, identifying issues, and applying appropriate solutions in both routine and moderately complex situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage assigned tasks and assist with multiple projects simultaneously; including supporting coordination of environmental activities, monitoring progress toward project goals and ensure compliance with established requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate technical information in writing and verbally to staff, stakeholders, and the public, including preparing reports, documentations, and summaries in accordance with program standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, coordinate with internal staff and external partners, and maintain organized records.

Responsibilities
