About The Position

Conducts facility inspection, evaluation, and monitoring for assigned food hygiene, group care, swimming pools, mobile home parks, biomedical waste, tattoo, tanning, body piercing, and migrant labor camps for compliance with all applicable State codes, statutes, and regulations. Performs these inspections within the required frequencies and conducts all inspections, including other functions in accordance with Florida Statues - Chapter 381, EH Manual 150-4, and Chapter 64E, Florida Administrative Code (FAC). Performs scheduled re-inspections to confirm corrective actions to address violations and verify return to compliance. Performs other related Environmental Health duties as required by the agency, such as, tracking inspection progress for assigned facilities to ensure that all inspections are performed within required frequencies. Maintains current complete and accurate records for assigned facilities and all inspection activities. Ensures that all licenses and Environmental Health Database (EHD) entries are current and accurate. Monitors quota reports and other reports from the Environmental Health Database to ensure these inspections are on track throughout the permit year. Directly responsible for all other related duties which may arise or be assigned to carry out the Environmental Health Program for the Lake County Health Department. Responsibilities include accountability, maintenance, availability of tool, equipment, vehicles and materials for the sections Food, water, and facility programs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Environmental Health Programs, Administrative Code, and County Ordinances.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather

  • Basic computer skills
  • Willing to work before during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural
  • This position requires daily in-office or field work. Willing to physically come in the office daily and perform field work.
  • This position requires current authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. The Department of Health is unable to provide employment visa sponsorship.
  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in science or 30 hours of Biological Sciences. An official transcript is needed to confirm your qualifications for this position
  • Able to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Have a current valid driver’s license or State ID. If out of state a Florida driver's license or State ID will be required within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Have the required Food Service Environmental Health Certification or obtain this Certification within 6 months of hire
