About The Position

We are looking for an Environmental Specialist I to join our team in Geismar, LA. We are seeking a professional like you to serve as an Environmental Specialist at our Geismar site. The Environmental Specialist will support environmental compliance activities within assigned chemical manufacturing process units for water, waste, air, and EPCRA reporting. This includes regulatory and BASF requirements such as REHSA reporting. The Environmental Specialist is a member of the local EHS team and continuously collaborates and partners with Global, North American, and local teams regarding EHS culture, regulations, compliance, and best practice.As a Environmental Specialist I, you create chemistry by... Leveraging your experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment and your education in a related field, you will support the EHS organization with addressing EHS issues at the Geismar site. Existing knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes and EHS experience is considered advantageous in this role. Applying your knowledge of environmental regulations, interpretations and regulatory compliance and permitting processes will be essential in successful achievement of roles and responsibilities Your proficient computer skills (ex. spreadsheets, word processors, database management) will aid you in completing pertinent records, communications and reports. You will also use these skills to work within EHS-related databases to ensure regulatory and BASF compliant records. Collaborating with your EHS peers and other site personnel, you will manage timely completion of environmental assessments and updates along with guiding site operations on required regulatory compliance requirements. Interface with regulatory personnel for permitting and inspections. Using your excellent presentation and communication skills, you will develop and deliver various environmental topics to site personnel Collaborating for achievement with your effective communication skills, you will actively participate with operations personnel and the EHS organization at the Geismar site 5-10 years of waste disposal management and water (NPDES) compliance and permitting experience a plus. Requirements

  • Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Education in a related field
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, interpretations and regulatory compliance and permitting processes
  • Proficient computer skills (ex. spreadsheets, word processors, database management)
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Effective communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Existing knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes and EHS experience
  • 5-10 years of waste disposal management and water (NPDES) compliance and permitting experience a plus. This includes RCRA permitting.
