Job Summary The Environmental Service Worker focuses on Infection Control and Prevention by providing proper cleaning and sanitation throughout the hospital and assigned site campuses Reports to: Supervisor, Environmental Services

Requirements

  • +2 years environmental service experience, preferably in a hospital setting
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of cleaning procedures and operating equipment after successful completion of 90 day training; Ability to clean and disinfect areas of blood, bodily fluids, and other pathogens (ie..vomit, urine, etc..)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of proper handling and disposing of medical infectious waste and soiled linen
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interact fairly and appropriately with people of all backgrounds
  • Requires wear or personal protective equipment (PPE); Ability to lift/move various types of equipment, supplies/chemicals, and furniture of light/medium weight. Work requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting and stretching.
  • This position is subject to indoor and outdoor environmental changes that may include varying temperatures. Exposure to chemicals used in cleaning supplies and blood/ blood borne pathogens is high risk.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning projects, providing support to coordinate and complete minor maintenance tasks, moves, and set ups
  • Facilitate employee training and development
  • Perform area inspections to evaluate and monitor quality performance, efficiency, customer satisfaction and infection control standards.
  • Maintain current area specific records, supply/equipment and inventory control.
  • Assist housekeeping and floor technicians with cleaning patient rooms, isolation rooms, and all other common areas to patient, visitors, and staff, when needed; Cleaning requires exposure to blood, blood borne pathogens, and bodily fluids
  • All other assigned duties related to Environmental Services
