The Maintenance Technician supports a highly automated production environment by maintaining and troubleshooting electronic instrumentation and automated equipment. This hands-on role focuses on electrical systems, sensors, servomotors, VFD and data-driven diagnostics, with additional responsibilities in mechanical and building maintenance. The technician ensures high equipment uptime and reliable equipment performance.The position requires significant time on the production floor ensuring facilities remain operational and compliant.

  • Diagnose and repair issues related to sensors, transmitters, actuators, control devices, valves, motors,VFDs on automated production equipment.
  • Install and maintain sensors, transmitters, vision systems, control devices, and field instrumentation (analog/digital, PNP/NPN, proximity, photoeyes, RTDs, pressure/flow sensors, etc.).
  • Perform repairs on equipment such as fillers, packaging systems, thermal processing units, robotics, and conveying systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair utilities systems such as boilers, air compressors, chillers, HVAC.
  • Rapidly respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • Provide technical support for issues beyond the capability of production staff.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance equipment to ensure consistent performance.
  • Document all PMs and repairs following cGMP and site standards. Maintain preventative maintenance schedules
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PLC I/O maps, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings.
  • Follow all safety requirements, including LOTO, arc flash, and safe handling of electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair building equipment, fixtures, and infrastructure issues as they arise.
  • Monitor and maintain utility systems supporting industrial operations (e.g., compressed air, cooling towers, process water, natural gas).
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facility systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, compressed air, boilers, chillers, water treatment, ventilation systems, and fire protection equipment.
  • Support installation, modification, and relocation of facility equipment, utilities, and production support systems.
  • Understanding of industrial controls (24VDC systems, relays, safety circuits, solenoids, servo systems, VFDs, contactors).
  • Hands-on experience with sensors and instrumentation (PNP/NPN, analog 4–20 mA, RTDs/thermocouples, proximity switches, encoders, flow/pressure devices).
  • Comfortable working on equipment governed by PLCs and HMIs for fault identification and basic diagnostics.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, and automation documentation.
  • Skilled in root cause analysis and structured troubleshooting methods
  • Experience maintaining filling, packaging, and sterilizing equipment in a pharmaceutical or Food & Beverage environment.
  • Prior use of RCA to determine failure mode, including creating and implementing solutions to prevent reoccurrence of the failure
  • Solid understanding of industrial utilities such as compressed air, HVAC, electrical distribution, and water systems.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial systems such as air compressors, boilers /steam generators, HVAC units, cooling towers, and chillers
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work well with operators, engineers, and OEM partners.

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • 3-5 years experience with industrial equipment maintenance or equivalent military experience.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office 365 for documentation and reporting.(excel, word)
  • Ability to stand and walk for 10-hour shifts
  • Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds and up to 65 pounds rarely.
  • Frequent bending, crouching, or twisting
  • Work in various adverse conditions such as tight or enclosed spaces, heights, and temperature extremes to complete work assignments
  • Experience in cGMP, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting via PLC/HMI interfaces (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
  • Knowledge of SQF and food safety culture.
  • Exposure to fill/finish, aseptic processing, Hot fill processing, packaging automation, robots, or sterilization systems.
  • Certifications in any of the following areas: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Building Operations, or similar.
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing preferred
