JOB SUMMARY: The Environmental Services Manager will provide leadership, direction, and management oversight for continuous improvement of the standard EVS operating model within the St. Tammany Health System. Provides staff leadership, making sound business decisions in support of the hospital’s mission and vision. Demonstrates leadership in providing an optimal environment for patient care, safety, service, and value. Manages the day-today operations of the department; ensures a consistently high level of cleanliness and aesthetics to patients, visitors, and staff. The Environmental Services Manager is responsible for the direct supervision of Environmental Services Technicians, Floor Care, Trash, Linen Technician and quality inspections at the Hospital and or any offsite locations. The EVS Manager is accountable for directing, assigning, and evaluating the technicians through adherence of departmental and hospital policies. The position has direct responsibility for the environmental service activities provided in their area of accountability. The role manages and trains technicians to new or changing infection control cleaning protocols. The EVS Manager will have direct and indirect contact with patients. The EVS Manager will have interactions with all departments and colleagues inclusive of but not limited to nurse managers, nursing coordinators, engineering, safety, infection control and sustainability.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two (2) year in Supervisory level experience managing and scheduling staff required.
  • Experience with between case and terminal cleaning process of all Health System sterile departments and areas inclusive of but not limited to Surgery and Sterile Processing.
  • Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) certification.
  • Must acquire CHESP certification within first two (2) years of hire.
  • Acquire or have scheduled to obtain trainer status for Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (T-CHEST) or Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (T-CSCT) within first one (1) year of hire.
  • Can distinguish the differences between levels of disinfection and perform low and intermediate level disinfection.
  • Experience with between case and terminal cleaning process of all Health System sterile departments and areas inclusive of but not limited to Surgery and SPD.
  • Can demonstrate effective use of computers and/or mobile devices for daily job performance activities.
  • Respectfully listens to viewpoints and ideas of others.
  • Ability to communicate orally or in writing openly and candidly creates an environment where co-workers and team members can clearly understand what is being communicated.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of team members and management.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively articulate and present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal and communication skills and provides a work environment that fosters positive energy, creativity, and teamwork among colleagues across all functional areas.
  • Requires knowledge of Windows applications, MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications.
  • Experience with typical EVS equipment/machinery
  • Must have a valid and current state issued driver’s license
  • Must maintain and provide proof of automobile insurance (at his/her own expense) in amounts which meet at least the minimum liability coverage limits required by the state of their residence.
  • Clearance of driving record check; Driving records shall not contain any of the following: a suspended or revoked driver’s license, 3 or more moving violations in the past 36 months, 2 or more accidents in the past 36 months, 1 or more instances of driving under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI) within the past 24 months, at fault in a fatal accident within the past 5 years, leaving the scene of an accident within the past 36 months, and/or reckless driving within the past 12 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum five (5) years in environmental services and/or acute care related service departments preferred.
  • Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) and/or Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (CSCT) certifications or trainer designation preferred.
