About The Position

Bristol Bay Construction Holdings LLC (BBCH) is growing! We are seeking a talented professional aspiring to become well rounded Environmental Scientist / Industrial Hygienist by joining the Aerostar Environmental and Construction LLC team, a subsidiary of BBCH! We are seeking scientists who are interested in identifying, investigating, evaluating, and assessing for elements, chemicals, and materials that could be detrimental to the environment, the public, and to workers. Our projects are located throughout, and occasionally outside, the United States which makes travel an imperative part of job expectations. Our team is looking for scientifically minded individuals seeking constant growth and constant inquisitiveness to enter into the environmental and industrial hygiene field or that are ready to accelerate to a more advanced and experienced position in the fields of environmental science, industrial hygiene, and safety and health. This position is based out of our Jacksonville Florida office

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's in Geology, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety and Health or related studies.
  • 1-3+ years of experience in performing environmental field investigations, industrial hygiene, and/or other geoscience-related fields
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • As a condition of employment, you may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable references and background check results.

Nice To Haves

  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Any licensing/certifications associated with asbestos, lead paint, radon or mold
  • Construction experience and familiarity with building construction
  • Experience with soil and groundwater sampling

Responsibilities

  • Conduct building assessments in occupied and unoccupied buildings including occupied spaces, confined spaces, roofs, and crawl spaces
  • Collecting samples of multiple media including air samples, bulk building material samples, samples in-situ, and worker exposure samples
  • Conduct oversight activities of workers and monitor and direct work practices
  • Collecting samples of soil, surface water, ground water, and other media; submitting samples under chain of custody to a laboratory for analysis
  • Maintaining certification and clearance in sensitive sites including DoD controlled facilities, child education facilities, assisted living facilities, and occupied residences
  • Interaction with facility and residential occupants in a professional manner
  • Calculations of spatial and material square footage
  • Understanding, learning, interpreting, and implementing OSHA, EPA, state and local regulations and standards
  • Meticulous note taking and documentation
  • Developing reports with observational information, laboratory analytical results, and recommendations based on regulations and industry standards
