About The Position

This is professional work performing data collection and data management functions and assisting senior project scientists in environmental restoration and environmental management projects. Job duties include: This is a leadership role in directing and participating in field work associated with ecological projects being conducted throughout the District. Duties include preparing equipment necessary to conduct fieldwork, driving trucks, boats, and airboats to access sampling areas, collecting/recording data, and monitoring submersed aquatic vegetation. Serve as data manager responsible for QA and data entry for ecological data into District databases. Duties may also include conducting data analysis, conducting literature searches, technical writing and editing, contract management, preparing technical presentations, and drafting tables and figures for technical reports and publications. Assist staff with other ecological projects as necessary.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, limnology, chemistry, botany, zoology, or a field directly related to natural resource management and two years professional experience in the environmental field.
  • Professional experience in an environmental field can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • Experience towing and driving boats
  • Competent in use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other analytical software.
  • Basic knowledge of ArcGIS.
  • Valid State of Florida Driver's License.
