HDR is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Scientist II to work in our Transportation Business Group as a member of our Environmental Sciences and Planning Section, based out of either our Nashville or Brentwood, Tennessee offices. In the role of Environmental Scientist II, we'll count on you to:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field
  • 5 years technical and/or field experience preparing environmental documents
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Strong environmental writing and communication skills
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years of environmental science experience in a variety of contexts.
  • TN QHP Certification.
  • Project management experience.
  • Local candidates preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect project-related data, which may include research, conducting surveys for listed species, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, field investigations for wetlands, land use, etc.
  • Manage a variety of complex environmental projects and programs, coordinating and managing resources needed to deliver technical studies.
  • Assimilate and manage data.
  • Define the level of environmental analysis required.
  • Perform complex assignments, making independent decisions on problems and methods.
  • Assist in preparation for and participation in public information meetings and hearings.
  • Assist public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition and compliance.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.
