About The Position

SCS Engineers is looking for a summer 2026 intern for our Richmond, VA office. This opportunity offers valuable hands-on experience in both technical and environmental business operations through a diverse range of client projects while giving you the chance to explore the beginnings of your own career path. As an intern, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals on projects centered around various aspects of site inspections and site history review, geographic information systems (GIS), soil and groundwater investigation/remediation, brownfield redevelopment, site development, and other projects. You will typically work 40 hours per week. How you can make an impact You will contribute to our projects by assisting SCS project teams with the following tasks: Soil, groundwater, and vapor investigation/remediation sampling Phase I Environmental Site Inspections GIS Projects Laboratory data management and review Reporting and calculation preparation Design assistance

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, soil science, environmental science, environmental or geological engineering and graduating by June 2028 required.
  • Must be willing to live in the Richmond area for Summer 2026 (housing will not be provided).
  • A valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing required.
  • At this time, we only consider candidates who are authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for current or future employer sponsorship for our internship program.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates going into senior year are preferred.
  • ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Great attention to detail and solid judgment.
