About The Position

ASARCO LLC is a subsidiary of one of the world’s largest Copper producers, Grupo Mexico, which ranks third in the United States in Copper production. ASARCO LLC is a fully integrated miner, smelter, and refinery of copper in the United States with over 2,800 employees spanning across five sites in Arizona and Texas. We are looking for motivated students with a strong interest in the mining industry. Our internship program is 10 weeks long, in which you will receive important industry training and get involved in meaningful real-world projects like planning a program, designing a process, or implementing technology. The culmination of your program will include an opportunity to present your work to management at ASARCO & Grupo Mexico.

Requirements

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.
  • Time management skills in performing multiple projects with various team members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present findings and make recommendations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university on a full-time basis.
  • Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate level.
  • Must be majoring in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or closely related Engineering discipline.
  • Experience Required: No previous experience required.
  • Candidates must possess a current and valid driver’s license.
  • Offers of employment are contingent upon a successful criminal background check and pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Environmental sampling and required regulatory inspections.
  • Updating chemical inventories, removal, and disposal of electronic, hazardous, and universal waste
  • Other environmental projects as assigned.
  • Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.
