The Natural Sciences Department at Eastern Mennonite University invites applications for a tenure-track or non- tenure-track assistant professor in Environmental Science and Biology. POSITION : Tenure-track or non-tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Environmental Science and Biology programs. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Biology, or related field.
  • Applicants must have a strong commitment to serving and working within a community of diverse learners.

Nice To Haves

  • College-level teaching and/or post-doctoral experience preferred.
  • A track record of active, inclusive, student-centered teaching is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching load may include undergraduate courses in environmental science, ecology, organismal biology, GIS, environmental policy and ethics, and the potential for electives within the candidate’s area of expertise.
  • Typical load is 3-4 courses per semester (9-month contract, 24SH per year).
  • A tenure-track position requires the development of an ongoing, scholarly research agenda that can involve undergraduate students.
  • Department and university service is expected in the form of advising and mentoring a diverse student body into a variety of science careers, with an emphasis on environmental science and environmental biology-focused majors.
  • Provide faculty service to EMU at the departmental and university levels.
  • Department and university service is expected in the form of advising and mentoring students and participation on university committees.
