About The Position

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to join their Environmental Team in Albany, NY; Syracuse, NY; or Buffalo, NY. This role is for an experienced project manager who is energized by environmental protection, regulatory strategy, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. The successful candidate will excel at leading environmental investigations, managing remediation efforts, and navigating permitting and compliance requirements, bringing technical rigor and practical solutions to complex site and infrastructure challenges. In this position, you will manage multidisciplinary environmental projects that may include site investigations, remediation planning and implementation, ecological assessments, and environmental permitting. This opportunity involves leading meaningful work that restores and protects environmental resources while advancing projects across a wide range of markets with public and private clients.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, science, planning, engineering management, or a related field required
• Minimum of 7 years of industry experience required
• Minimum of 4 years of project management experience required
• Demonstrated experience managing client relationships, understanding contract requirements, and overseeing multiple concurrent projects
• Experience preparing proposals, project plans, extra work authorizations and project closeout documents for projects required
• Experience with Microsoft Office required
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving, project financial management, and leadership skills
• Ability to travel as needed and work collaboratively with technical teams

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of New York State environmental regulations and guidance highly preferred
• Knowledge of MS Project, Primavera P6, or Deltek Vision preferred
• Consulting experience preferred
• PMP, PE or equivalent professional license preferred

Responsibilities

• Oversee every phase of environmental projects—from planning through implementation—ensuring quality, consistency, and regulatory compliance
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, understanding project goals and delivering practical, environmentally responsible solutions
• Manage contracts, purchase orders, project documentation, and ongoing coordination with clients, regulators, and subcontractors
• Take charge of project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash management, while ensuring timely payments and accurate reporting
• Lead monthly project review meetings, communicating progress and updates to clients, management, and project teams
• Develop and implement health and safety plans, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, quality standards, and permitting requirements
• Embrace a “seller/doer” mindset, actively developing new business opportunities and expanding environmental services provided
