Joby Aviation is developing a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically and carries passengers over congested city streets. The company has been working on this since 2009 and is in the final stages of certifying its aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch in the US and Dubai, Joby is currently scaling manufacturing and preparing for commercial service. The Environmental Planning Program Manager will lead environmental reviews for the company's manufacturing and vertiport developments. This role reports to the Environmental Planning and Sustainability Lead and involves developing and executing permit screening and planning at state and federal levels, providing the technical foundation for Joby's global infrastructure pipeline and site selection strategy. The Environmental Planning and Sustainability Team manages regulatory compliance and operational innovation, covering aspects from air permitting to energy efficiency, to enable Joby to manufacture and operate its aircraft at scale. This is a cross-functional role requiring close collaboration with Infrastructure, Policy, and Business Development teams to advance global infrastructure projects from concept to reality. The Program Manager will oversee the permitting lifecycle across multiple jurisdictions, navigating environmental review processes domestically and internationally, including NEPA, CEQA, and CEQR, for greenfield, urban, and airport sites. The role also involves developing internal tools and market-specific strategies to streamline the development of manufacturing plants, maintenance hubs, and vertiports essential for the all-electric air taxi service.
