About The Position

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) has an immediate opening for an experienced Environmental Manager based in our Lone Tree, CO location. In this role, you will lead the environmental permitting for complex infrastructure projects across North America including very large design-build, progressive design-build (PDB), public-private partnerships (P3), and construction manager/general contractor (CM/GC) contracts.  We seek a technical expert—someone with in-depth environmental planning experience that can be drawn upon to deliver pursuits and construction projects across North America.  Experience coordinating with agencies such as State DOT's, FHWA, FRA, FTA, FAA, USACE, FERC, etc. Is an integral part of this role.  District Overview Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering seamlessly transitions solutions from design to construction through the collaborative efforts of Design Engineering, Design Management, Proposals, Estimating, and Integrated Project Controls. Remote or hybrid work arrangements may be considered depending on the candidate's location (must be reasonale driving distance to Kiewit major HUB offices), experience, and qualifications, and are subject to business needs and applicable company policies. Candidates approved for remote work may be required to travel to the Lone Tree office or other locations as needed.  Responsibilities You will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating environmental permitting, reports, and technical documentation, as well as managing tasks and mentoring/leading others in the delivery of environmental products. You can expect to oversee junior and mid-level staff working on multiple large-scale projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Planning, Environmental Planning, Life Sciences, Cultural Resources, Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or another related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of environmental planning experience in either transportation or land development projects.
  • Project Management and technical experience with design/planning projects on U.S. projects.
  • Ability to think strategically, adapt and innovate in accordance to project requirements and regulations.
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative and ownership.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals across teams and disciplines

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and coordinating environmental permitting, reports, and technical documentation
  • Managing tasks and mentoring/leading others in the delivery of environmental products
  • Collaboratively develop and implement strategy for delivering environmental components of our projects.
  • Review environmental documents, RFPs, and other documents to identify risk and scope.
  • Lead environmental planning and permitting processes and document preparation for transportation, transit, and infrastructure clients.
  • Serve as technical lead for a variety of infrastructure projects during conceptual planning and design through environmental approvals and permitting.
  • Develop documents that meet the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Section 4 (f) of the Department of Transportation Act , Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act , Section 401 and 404 of the Clean Water Act, and Sections 7 and 10 of the Endangered Species Act, and other applicable laws.  This includes knowledge or ability to learn requirements and processes pursuant to state codes and municipal ordinance.
  • Perform quality reviews of environmental deliverables that meet client requirements and regulatory standards to ensure high-quality products are produced on time and within budget.
  • Perform quality reviews of other discipline's engineering designs and plans to identify environmental constraints.
  • Prepare and manage scope, schedule, and hours for a variety of environmental tasks for infrastructure projects across the office and division.
  • Work with project schedulers and estimators to incorporate environmental permit requirements into the project master schedule.
  • Collaborate with transportation planning, engineering, urban design/landscape design, and other disciplines to determine compatibility of designs with environmentally sensitive areas.
  • Coordinate with clients, sub-consultants, and in-house personnel on a regular basis.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with all levels of internal and external agency personnel.
  • Support project communications and technical meetings, provide coordination to resolve design issues.
  • Lead environmental task force meetings to advance the pursuits and active design projects.
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced staff on technical and professional issues.
