This EM2 position serves as a solid waste compliance inspector conducting field inspections in an assigned territory, inspecting regulated facilities and investigating citizen complaints. This position directly interacts with the public and regulated communities and provides them with guidance to ensure that solid wastes are handled and disposed of properly. Inspectors have regular conversations/outreach with their local government offices and are the main contact for communities when dealing with solid waste issues or debris management during emergencies. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently using organizational and time management skills to ensure their assigned work is completed as required. This position is responsible for interpreting environmental rules, regulations, and guidelines in order to evaluate compliance and make recommendations on proper solid waste management and disposal. Verbal and written communication skills are a must. The inspector will prepare an accurate and detailed inspection report following each inspection within the required timeframes. This position is required to work with a wide variety of individuals, internally and externally, people skills and experience with conflict resolution and problem solving are important.
