About The Position

The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting EH&S initiatives located at the Panama City, FL location. This role will provide hands-on support to operations while ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable state and local regulations. The EHS Specialist will partner closely with the EHS Supervisor and local plant leadership, operations, and HR to foster a proactive safety culture, reduce risk, and ensure effective incident management, regulatory compliance, and employee well-being, including oversight of occupational health and workers’ compensation processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree, with specialization in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or Environmental Sciences (Preferred) and/or Equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with OSHA compliance, incident investigation, risk assessment, and safety program development.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently to find solutions.
  • Proficient in leveraging office systems such as Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of corporate ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) efforts and processes preferred.
  • Candidates with Professional Certifications (CSP, ASP, etc.) are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support site environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable regulations.
  • Serve as a hands-on safety leader on the production floor, promoting a strong safety culture of accountability.
  • Conduct routine audits, inspections, and risk assessments; drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Lead incidents, injury, and near-miss investigations; identify root causes and implement preventive solutions.
  • Maintain FL Site OSHA logs, compliance documentation, and required regulatory reporting.
  • Partner with leadership and HR to deliver safety training and support employee development.
  • Monitor and report key safety metrics (TRIR, DART, far misses) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support workers’ compensation and return-to-work programs, including case tracking and employee follow-up.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness programs, including evacuation, first aid, and response planning.
  • Support environmental compliance initiatives, including waste management and sustainability efforts.
  • Ensure contractors and visitors adhere to all safety policies and site requirements.
  • Provide oversight and direction to facility personnel, safety committees, health specialists, and manufacturing site leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
