About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist I - Boca Raton, FL The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist's primary duties are in support of the EH&S fire safety program, including but not limited to serving as a liaison to State Fire Marshal and coordination of SFM inspections of facilities and construction sites, responding to fire alarms, coordinating corrective actions for fire safety deficiencies.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and four years of appropriate experience required.
  • Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts inspections and prepares recommendations for corrective action.
  • Coordinates the maintenance of safety equipment.
  • Conducts training programs to educate the university community as to preventative measures.
  • Reviews accidental injury reports, conducts investigations and maintains statistics of accident cases.
  • Assists in reviewing plans for new construction and renovation for compliance with applicable building codes.
  • Collects and transports hazardous wastes.
  • Provides support of general EH&S operations, i.e. record keeping, training, equipment maintenance, EH&S facilities and vehicle maintenance.
  • Special projects as assigned.
