About The Position

Overview Specialist, Environmental Health & Safety US Remote Compensation: $70 - 80K Base R eports to: Director of EHSS Travel 15% - 30% Headline: Sun Auto Tire & Service is the fastest growing, top 10 independent tire dealer in the US with 550+ stores operating under multiple brands, including Sun Devil, Greulich's, Wilhelm. Job Summary: Coordinates environmental programs to ensure compliance with established policies and EPA / State / Local regulations. Coordinates inspections and tours of facilities to detect existing or potential accident , spill , and environmental hazards; and recommends corrective or preventive actions. Conducts Team Member training programs in labeling, recycling, and waste, and other Team Member environmental programs. Investigates environmental incidents. Prepares legally required reports and any regular or special reports for annual reporting requirements, monthly meeting , or inspections (in-house or external). May serve as liaison with spill / clean up crews, and other outside agencies regarding environmental programs. Supervises the SPCC, CUPA, and SWPPP programs for the company. Oversees the administration of the CUPA, SPCC, SWPPP, Air, Water, Hazardous Waste and other applicable programs as needed.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Bachelor’s degree in field related.
  • 4+ years of related work experience .
  • Experience with RCRA and Haz Waste Management.
  • Close knowledge of CALOSHA and CAL EPA and CUPA regulations.
  • Experience in completing regulatory reports and sustainability metrics and reports (Air emissions, wastewater, Hazardous Waste, CUPA/Tier II, TRI, etc.)
  • Multi-State experience with Safety or Environmental as well as multi-unit retail experience, preferably in automotive service.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates environmental incidents and prepares reports.
  • Plans and implements environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Inspects facilities to detect existing or potential environmental hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated , and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Provides information to warn of potential and actual environmental hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
  • Oversees weekly, monthly, quarterly and/ or annual inspections as needed for regulatory programs.
  • Maintains environmental files and records.
  • Confers with field management, facilities, and regulatory agency staff to discuss problems, to develop tests to detect hazardous leaks, and to design plans to monitor equipment and safety programs.
  • Maintains above ground storage tank inventory and change management.
  • Maintains Safety Data Sheet and chemical management inventory.
  • Interprets data and observations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry guidelines and advises management accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain emergency escape maps, and tailored emergency response plans for facilities.
  • Oversees environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Interface with regulators as needed for normal business and inspections.
  • Provides technical data to assist with completing permits and licenses
  • Complete permit updates and reporting submissions.
  • Update Emergency Response Plan and Hazardous Waste Management Plan Documentation.
  • Prepare and submit updates to regulatory agencies on required timelines.
