About The Position

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist I is responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote a safe working environment. This entry-level position requires awareness of EHS requirements, experience in a manufacturing environment, and knowledge of applicable regulatory standards such as OSHA, EPA, and DOT. The role involves assisting in the development and execution of EHS initiatives, conducting inspections, and providing support to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. In this role, you will assist in the implementation and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. You will conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to EHS regulations. Supporting the development and execution of EHS initiatives and training programs, you will also assist in investigating incidents and near-misses, recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Maintaining and updating EHS documentation, records, and reports in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements will be a key responsibility. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility while providing support in preparing and submitting regulatory reports and documentation. Staying current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in EHS, you will participate in emergency response planning and drills. Additionally, you will perform other duties as assigned to support the EHS department and its objectives.

Requirements

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree).
  • Typically entry-level 0 - 2 years of experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with awareness of EHS requirements.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards (i.e., OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in using EHS management software and tools.
  • Basic understanding of industrial hygiene principles and practices.
  • Experience with hazard identification and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Familiarity with safety data sheets (SDS) and chemical management.
  • Knowledge of incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to develop and deliver EHS training programs.
  • Experience with environmental compliance reporting and documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and EHS-specific software.
  • Certification in First Aid, CPR, or other relevant EHS certifications.
