About The Position

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager at CGS is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing company-wide safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies. This position provides direction, guidance, and technical expertise to project sites to promote safe work practices and reduce risk. The EHS Manager supports site leadership by conducting audits, reviewing incident trends, and recommending corrective actions to prevent accidents and improve performance. Additionally, this role helps drive a proactive safety culture through training, communication, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. Work model: Onsite/In-Office

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Travel is expected as needed, up to approximately 30% of the year. Flexibility is required to accommodate business needs, and travel may vary depending on project requirements and organizational priorities.
  • OSHA 500 or 501 certification.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive safety experience, including oversight of safety compliance programs.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience within the safety function
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying OSHA regulations and other applicable federal, state, and local safety laws.
  • Experience conducting or overseeing safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Proven ability to analyze safety metrics and use data to drive program improvements.
  • Experience supporting multi-site or geographically dispersed operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of safety reports and presentation of findings to leadership.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Risk, HR, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and safety reporting systems.
  • Current state driver’s license, with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD base access visitor pass.

Nice To Haves

  • Project management experience.
  • Master’s degree in health, safety and environment or related field.
  • Experience with Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems (ANSI Z. 10, ISO 45001).
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor certification.
  • Experience managing safety program budgets and departmental performance goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manages Chugach Government Solutions, LLC's (CGS) safety programs, policies, and procedures to promote occupational safety and prevent workplace accidents.
  • Analyzes safety metrics to evaluate and track program performance, identifies trends, and ensures operational alignment with safety objectives.
  • Implements processes and standards to inspect and audit the organization's procedures, facilities, and equipment and ensure compliance with safety regulations and requirements.
  • Oversees incident investigations completed by safety personnel to ensure appropriate identification of root causes, development of preventative measures, and preparation of safety reports.
  • Oversees and supports implementation of safety training programs at job sites.
  • Participates in contract transitions to ensure CGS safety programs are implemented appropriately.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulations and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations pertaining to safety.
  • Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adheres to approved budgets.
  • Maintains extensive knowledge of OSHA standards, and familiarity with military safety standards such as EM 385.
  • Works across teams such as Risk, HR, and others to ensure a collaborative environment when implementing and maintaining safety programs.
  • Promotes a culture of safety within CGS.
