About The Position

Hood Plywood, a division of Hood Industries, Inc., is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager for our Wiggins, MS facility. The ideal candidate would provide guidance and direction to plant management and employees in all aspects of safety and environmental compliance. This position would plan, organize, direct, control, and coordinate all site safety and environmental compliance activities. They would be expected to manage required training, recordkeeping, administrative processes, and regulatory and compliance guidelines. This position reports to the Plant Manager.

  • Must have knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • High level of integrity and strong work ethic.
  • Associate degree is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment where 3 of those years were as Manager of a Safety department.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, health & safety, Industrial Safety, or a related field is preferred
  • Professional certification (ASP, CSP, or others) is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manages corporate and division health and safety programs at the facility.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies (OSHA, MDEQ).
  • Coordinates and delivers safety training to managers, employees, and contractors.
  • Leads incident investigations and manages worker’s compensation administration and claims.
  • Initiates facility safety audits, identifies potential hazards in the operation, and takes appropriate actions to mitigate risks.
  • Knowledge and experience with regulatory guidelines, reporting, and recordkeeping.
