Our Site based in Garland (Texas), is currently looking for Environmental Health & Safety Manager The Employee Health & Safety Manager leads the development and coordination of the site’s Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability management system. This role ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while driving continuous improvement through systematic processes. Key responsibilities include updating policies, conducting risk assessments to identify hazards, and implementing preventive measures to create a safe and sustainable workplace.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in the HS&E division in well-structured companies
  • At least 3 years in leadership roles, preferably with exposure to international operations and cross-functional team management.
  • Minimum High school degree with HS&E Certification, Bachelor's Degree highly desirable
  • Safety & Environment Legislation
  • Sustainability Certifications (e.g.: ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO37001, Sedex, Ecovadis)

Responsibilities

  • Safety Management Policies - Ensure compliance with all applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, including obtaining and maintaining required permits. Define HS&E and Sustainability responsibilities for employees and evaluate workplace risks in line with legislation and organizational needs. Develop preventive and protective measures to maintain safe and healthy work environments. Conduct regular safety analyses for new and existing facilities, focusing on environmental aspects and implementing improvement initiatives. Collaborate with supervisors to create and update safety procedures and maintain the HS&E Management System and certifications. Lead audits (Corporate, ISO, Customer), assign responsibilities, and follow up on findings. Monitor and analyze key HS&E and Sustainability indicators such as accidents, near misses, and risk assessment compliance.
  • Training Programs and Culture - Promote a strong HS&E and Sustainability culture by defining and delivering role-specific training to meet legal requirements and prevent accidents. Assess training effectiveness through behavioral audits and hold department leaders accountable for compliance. Organize regular HS&E meetings to raise awareness on key topics. Recommend appropriate budgets for operating and capital expenses to ensure regulatory compliance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Workplace Incidents and Events - Investigate HS&E and Sustainability incidents to identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Coordinate Workers’ Compensation and act as the point of contact for security incidents in collaboration with HR. Represent the company with external organizations and liaise with emergency responders during incidents, serving as Incident Commander. Ensure proper waste management and disposal in compliance with regulations, maintaining accurate records.
  • Reports preparation to Interested Parties - Ensure timely compliance with local, state, and federal HS&E and Sustainability reporting requirements. Support the Corporate Sustainability Manager with progress reports on improvement initiatives. Maintain and update the HS&E and Sustainability Scorecard, presenting key metrics and critical updates to the General Manager.
  • People Management - Provide daily supervision and coaching to HS&E team members, including Waste Disposal Operators and Safety Technician. Collaborate with department managers to implement Safety Points of Contact (SPOC) by shift, ensuring 24/7 HS&E and Sustainability coverage across operations.
  • Budget Management, Projects and Business Acumen - Implement recycling programs to achieve cost-neutral waste management in collaboration with department managers and supervisors. Prepare annual HS&E and Sustainability budgets for approval and provide monthly expense forecasts to the Industrial Controller, ensuring targets are met. Identify and propose cost-improvement initiatives to enhance business profitability. Participate and coordinate projects with plant teams to increase risk protection and prevention, based on audit findings and internal initiatives.
  • Management review & KPI - Participate in management reviews and ensure timely updates and analysis of KPIs. Oversee document control activities and maintain compliance with functional responsibilities.
