About The Position

We are looking for an EHS Manager to help bring our team to the next level as we continually improve our EHS management system. As the EHS Manager, you will provide EHS oversight of the Stanley Black & Decker Northlake Distribution Center and assistance to other sites as needed. Will design, implement, and maintain for the site an EHS management system that is capable of driving results in waste elimination while also developing an accident-free culture and maintaining 100% regulatory compliance. Reports to the DC Manager and will directly interact with all departments, various regulatory agencies, and the Corporate EHS team. As the EHS Manager, you’ll be part of our Tools & Outdoor team working as an on-site employee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Safety or Environmental Sciences preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience in implementing EHS culture in a warehouse environment preferred
  • Broad knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 standards
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate will all levels within the organization
  • Analytical skills and ability to gather and interpret complex sets of data
  • Computer proficiency including use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and EHS Data Management system preferred
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain site EHS management system plans, including ISO certifications, EHS RoadMap, and interfaces with regulatory compliance.
  • Provide guidance and information to Supervisors and Managers regarding regulatory compliance as it relates to Employee Health and safety. Also, provides training regarding all mandatory OSHA compliance, site emergency response team, new hire safety orientation, and other site-specific hazard awareness training.
  • Develop and implement programs designed to improve workplace health, focusing on ergonomics, safe behaviors, hazard identification, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal safety/health regulations.
  • Liaison (with corporate EHS support) with government agencies on regulatory issues.
  • Steward annual EHS audits to support compliance certification; provide oversight of audit corrective actions, and reporting on audit results, as necessary.
  • Ensure the site maintains current environmental, safety, and security data on the EHS website. Also, maintains OSHA 300 logs and injury/illness metrics.
  • Drive leading indicator initiatives such as near-miss reporting, behavior-based safety, and employee engagement activities.
  • Investigate safety incidents and provide Root Cause Analysis.
  • Monitor changing and emerging safety standards and best practices, as well as implement programs and processes to address them.
  • Maintain safety contingency programs for all fire, spill, and other emergency response processes.
  • Provide leadership for physical site security to include third-party provider, C-TPAT requirement compliance, and investigation of security incidents.
  • Supervise EHS employees and be responsible for their attendance, training, and development.
