About The Position

The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager partners closely with Retail, Production, and corporate teams to ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations and internal standards, including OSHA, EPA, workers' compensation, and company policies. This role is responsible for leading, building, implementing, and continuously improving the EH&S program across Ethos locations. The EH&S Manager balances proactive risk prevention with responsive issue resolution, ensuring a safe, compliant, and supportive work environment for all employees. This position reports to the Sr. Director, People Experience and Compliance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety required.
  • Strong knowledge of EH&S regulations and compliance frameworks required.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% and work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Experience in retail, manufacturing, or highly regulated environments required.
  • Experience in the cannabis industry preferred.
  • Proven track record of building safety programs in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Proven change-management and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to write technical reports, SOPs, and training materials.
  • Inquisitive, thorough, and diplomatic with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work in a diverse, multicultural, and multigenerational environment.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Must pass all required state background checks.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive, scalable EH&S program across retail and production environments.
  • Develop lean, practical EH&S processes that promote employee accountability and prevent unsafe or environmentally unsound conditions.
  • Monitor EH&S program effectiveness and implement corrective actions for both short-term and long-term risks.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local EH&S regulations, including OSHA, EPA, DOT (as applicable), and company policies.
  • Continuously monitor regulatory changes and recommend policy or process updates to maintain compliance.
  • Serve as a key liaison during regulatory audits and inspections; prepare responses to Notices of Deficiency (NODs) and Plans of Correction.
  • Lead incident investigations, root-cause analyses, and corrective action plans.
  • Support internal and external audits, including facility inspections and government investigations.
  • Participate as a member of the Compliance Team and support audit readiness across sites.
  • In partnership with our Training Department, develop and deliver EH&S training programs to promote safety awareness and compliance for employees and contractors.
  • Engage leaders and employees at all levels in EH&S ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Provide EH&S guidance and support to site leadership and frontline teams.
  • Develop and track EH&S KPI's to evaluate program performance and identify trends.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, flexibility, and waste reduction.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate EH&S best practices into daily operations.
  • Assist with management inquiries and operational support as needed.
  • Perform additional duties within the Compliance team based on business needs.
