The Environmental, Health and Safety Intern  will serve a vital role in EH&S by assisting in the implementation of EH&S plans and procedures, in support of the RTX and Pratt & Whitney EH&S Program.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in an EH&S discipline or a related field (e.g., Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Biology, etc.).
  • U.S. citizenship is required as the position may involve access to systems/tools restricted to U.S. citizens.
  • Local to Columbus, GA, and willing to commute onsite five days a week.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.
  • Experience with project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the leadership team and line supervision to ensure EH&S regulatory compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations, as well as adherence to P&W procedures and RTX EH&S Standard Practices.
  • Identify health and safety hazards and implement controls to mitigate risks.
  • Assist the EH&S team with tracking the implementation of EH&S initiatives and projects across the organization.
  • Gather data on open items from P&W sites regarding Safety, Health, and Risk Reduction metrics or projects.
  • Support the implementation of the Pratt & Whitney EH&S Management System.
  • Organize and maintain assigned EH&S policies to achieve and sustain compliance with regulations.
  • Participate in the site EH&S Council.
  • Conduct safety inspections and analyze audit findings to develop corrective actions and promote safe work practices.
