Our team runs a worldwide portfolio of over 3 million square feet, 135 sites and over 12,000 employees. In addition to ensuring the workspace and manufacturing facilities operate seamlessly, this group also provides employee and site services, such as cafeteria, transportation, security, and safety. The team is responsible for all construction and site improvement work to enable the business needs as well as align with the financial requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in scientific, engineering or technology field AND 1-2 years work experience, or Associate's degree AND 5 years working in high tech, semiconductor, biotech, laboratory or manufacturing environment or equivalent
  • Passion for helping keep people safe at work and protecting the environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Able to inquire and listen to customer requests and needs.
  • Finds it fun to analyze data to identify trends and how processes can be improved.
  • Experience working with databases, content development/posting, web-site development or implementing computer systems
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret regulatory and/or legal language
  • Outstanding time and project management skills
  • Comfortable working in cleanrooms and high hazard environments

Responsibilities

  • Serve as central contact point for all incoming EHS service requests and ensuring services are provided in a timely, effective and efficient manner
  • Ensure requests are properly recorded and assigned to the applicable EHS team member or third-party vendor.
  • Close requests and reports once work is completed
  • Proactively reach out to individuals submitting requests and reports, as applicable to clarify information in the request / report and provide status updates
  • Analyze requests and reports to identify trends
  • Coordinate EHS promotional and marketing events to improve understanding and awareness of EHS services across the Milpitas campus
  • Make suggestions for improving the EHS service request process and/or updates to computer system features
  • Become a subject matter expert on the Service System software used for managing EHS service requests and location/space based EHS hazard information
  • Coordinate activities of existing EHS third party vendors (Safety shoes, Prescription safety glasses vendors)
  • Develop and provide instructions to third party-vendors, monitor quality of their work, escalate service issues as necessary
  • Maintain all vendor related reports and records in an organized manner
  • Work closely with procurement to ensure appropriate contracts and purchase orders are in place
  • Work with Facilities and EHS team members to identify and schedule EHS vendors as needed to support moves, lab and equipment decommissions, new equipment installs etc...
  • Receive and approve vendor invoices in a timely manner
  • Assist the EHS manager with execution of waste management program and oversight of the site services vendor.
  • Over time, take on full ownership of chemical waste program and be required to maintain hazardous waste and hazmat (DOT) shipping training certifications
  • Coordinate ergonomic assessments performed by third-party ergonomist
  • Submit purchase requests for equipment recommended by ergonomist.
  • Assist end users in proper set-up
  • Work with move team to schedule ergonomic assessment days as part of large office moves
  • Help promote the availability of ergonomic assessments and importance of using good ergonomic
  • Coordinate ergonomic assessments of specific laboratory, production or warehouse operations
  • Maintain the ergonomic equipment catalog
  • Work with the ergonomic consultant to develop and provide guidance, tips and tricks for ergonomic best practices
  • Help train the Milpitas EHS team on proper data entry to ensure consistency and integrity of data
  • Develop and deploy content to help educate the broader Milpitas population on using system to report incidents, close assigned action items and use the system to their advantage
  • Facilitate EHS procurement efforts for the Milpitas EHS team.
  • Function as owner of the Lab Placard application and maintain the integrity and accuracy of the site hazard inventory data-set
  • Work with GWS colleagues to update EHS information on site evacuation maps to reflect current conditions and location of emergency equipment
  • Identify available IT systems and software that could help the EHS team get its work done more efficiently
  • Lead efforts to organize and improve how EHS documentation is stored, accessed and communicated to Milpitas personnel within confines of existing systems
  • Work with KLA IT and Corporate EHS and GWS colleagues to improve systems used by the Milpitas EHS team
  • Support the site level requirements for our ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 programs
  • Participate on the site Emergency Response programs including first-aid, CPR, spills, fire/evacuation, and other critical programs
  • Work with the EHS manager to plan and project manage small EHS projects
